One week from today is the start of Artisphere in Greenville, South Carolina! Even though I’ve lived in the Upstate for nearly 50 years, I’m still constantly amazed at how much it has to offer. There are so many incredible cultural opportunities in our area, and as one of the top outdoor art festivals in the country, Artisphere is certainly not one to miss.

In recent years, Artisphere has received statewide and national recognition, including being named the following:

  • Third place on 10Best Art Festivals by USA TODAY
  • A top 10 Fine Art Show for 2015 by Art Fair SourceBook
  • A Top 20 Event in the Southeast by the Southeast Tourism Society

From May 8-10, 2015, tens of thousands of visitors and residents will flock to Greenville’s award-winning downtown to enjoy demonstrations, exhibits and live performances. Take a stroll down Artist Row in the West End to view (and purchase) artwork from international-caliber artists, and don’t miss Artist Demo Row on the Main Street Bridge to see glassblowing, metalworking, woodworking and printmaking in action.

Additionally, like most events in Greenville, SC, Artisphere is kid friendly. One of the goals of the festival is to highlight

performances by local youth and provide creative, educational activities for children. Your little ones will enjoy a dedicated “Kidsphere” tent, which will be located in the parking lot on Broad Street across from Greenville News. There they can learn craft techniques, make their own art—including stained glass lanterns and fish mosaics—and help build this year’s Kidsphere Community Sculpture.

Likewise, adults will enjoy wine and craft beer tastings, silent auctions, cooking demonstrations, and incredible food at the Culinary Arts Cafe. Make sure you stick around for “Artisphere After Hours” to see live musical performances on the main stage from 8pm to 9:45pm.
