Still Growing Strong!

As you’ve been outside… walking around Greenville, South Carolina, this summer… enjoying our beautiful weather… you’ve no doubt seen it. New developments are underway all across our city. Greenville is growing – and exciting things continue to be planned. Less than a year after completing Unity Park on the west side of town, attention turned to a new developing a little further south.

On three acres of land behind Flour Field in Greenville’s West End, the city has plans for a development that will include green space, walk-ability, restaurants and living space.

In an article with wspa.com, Greenville Mayor said the city doesn’t plan to hold the land but rather sell it to a developer.

“This is kind of an Augusta Road gateway into downtown Greenville and the West End so that’s why we have given it special attention,” he said. “We have these wonderful renderings of what we want to see on the site. It is one of those things when we sell the site, we know what we are going to get.”

It’s clear that the city is being intentional about how and where it’s growing and developing, and it seems to be working – at least when it comes to bringing in visitors. Tourism in the Upstate is booming. According to an article by GSA Business Report, Greenville had 7 million visitors in 2022. One million of those visitors came through Greenville-Spartanburg International Airport and 68% visited from out of state. In total, they spent more than $1.5 billion in the Upstate and generated more than $34 million in tax revenue.
